Welcome to The Accidental Motorcyclist
I'm so glad you're here.
Whether you've followed our adventures from the beginning, stumbled across a story online, or simply share a love of travel, curiosity and saying "yes" to life's unexpected opportunities, it’s great to have you along for the ride.
This website is where the adventure continues.
Last year, my husband Richard and I set off on a motorcycle adventure from Cape Agulhas, the southern tip of Africa, to Nordkapp, at the very top of Norway.
What began as a motorcycle trip across continents became something much bigger: a journey filled with extraordinary people, unexpected challenges, moments of courage, occasional misadventures, and countless reminders of the kindness, generosity and humanity that exist in the world.
Along the way, I began writing what has become The Accidental Motorcyclist: A Journey into Courage, Connection and Becoming – a memoir inspired by the people, places and lessons encountered along the road.
This website is where I'll continue to share the stories behind the journey, the challenges and triumphs of writing and publishing a book, and news of whatever adventures come next.
Here you'll find:
News, milestones, challenges, celebrations (plus a few plot twists) as the book makes its way into the world.
Photographs and videos from some of the world's most remarkable places.
Extraordinary encounters, unexpected lessons, and stories from the road that deserve a longer telling.
Reflections on travel, courage, ageing, resilience, adventure and our perspectives on the world.
Behind-the-scenes updates on the book, how I wrote it and the publishing journey.
Practical advice on how to prepare and create your own adventure on two wheels (especially as a woman).
Most of all, I hope this becomes a place for connection.
A place for people who believe adventure has no age limit, that curiosity is worth nurturing, and that some of life's greatest lessons are found when we step beyond the familiar.
I'd love you to join us. You can sign up below to receive occasional updates, exclusive Stories from the Road, book news, and a few adventures that haven't happened yet.
The Cape to Kapp adventure may be over, but the story is still unfolding.
